TECHNICAL DATA SHEET PRIMEPOX P49 GENERIC TYPE TYPE : ANTI-CORROSION PRIMER : TWO-PACK EPOXY-POLYAMIDE DESCRIPTION: PRIMEPOX P49 is a two-pack epoxy-polyamide anti-corrosion primer. It can be applied directly onto previously degreased and brushed steel (preferably sandblasted to Sa 2.5). CLASSIFICATION: AFNOR NF T.36.005 - Family I - Class 6b PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: Density at 20°C Viscosity NF 4 at 20°C Solids Mix pot life Flash point Colour Finish Mixing by volume Mixing by weight : 1.50 + 0.05 : Thixotrope : 75 + 3 % by weight / 46 + 2 % by volume : 8 hours at 20°C : > 23 °C : Pearl grey : Matt : 3 parts base, 1 part hardener : 100 parts base, 18 parts hardener SURFACE PREPARATION: PRIMEPOX P49 must be applied on a clean and dry surface. Room temperature, as well as the paint support and product temperature, must be higher than 10°C during the application and the polymerisation process. Sandblasting of steel to Sa 2.5 guarantees the best results and maximum protection but most of the time, brushing to St3 will be sufficient. PAINT PREPARATION: Mix the base and hardener separately before mixing them together. If thinning is used for spraying purposes, only add the EPOXY THINNER once the base and hardener have been mixed. Let the mix settle for 15-20 minutes before use. APPLICATION: PRIMEPOX P49 can be applied readily by brush, roller or spray. Thinning and cleaning : EPOXY THINNER : Brush & Roller : 5 % Spray : 5-10 % Recommended thickness per coat : 80 microns wet (40 microns dry) Drying time at 20°C : Surface dry : 30 minutes To touch : 12 hours Recoat : 24 hours Coverage : For a 40 microns dry coat : Theoretical : 12 m²/l Practical : 8 m²/l Temperature range : Min. 10°C - max. 30°C PACKING AND SHELF-LIFE: Available in: Shelf-life: Packs of 1, 4 and 16 litres. 12 months unopened and stored in a dry place.
