Housed in a rugged, corrosion-resistant case and protected by end caps with ‘O’ ring seals. 3 Application This handheld signal has been designed for personal distress signalling and is ideal for divers, windsurfers, dinghy sailors and small boats operating inshore as well as outdoor pursuits such as mountaineering, and was originally designed for naval divers and helicopter/aircrew. l ncorporates a red flare 15,000 candela at one end, for use at night and day, and a I dense orange smoke at the other for daytime use. l oth ends can be fired independently and can be doused in water after firing, allowing B the unused end to be stowed until required. 3 Storage When not carried, the signal should be stored in the robust, specially designed Polybottle, or in a dry location at ambient temperature. 3 Operation (identical both ends) FOR DAY OR NIGHT USE ONLY WHEN RESCUE SERVICES ARE SIGHTED 1. Select the end to be used – smoke by day, flare at night. Due to its high power the flare also has good visibility by day if required.
