Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses self-aligning shaft seals and packed glands, focusing on the Strong SureSeal Shaft Seals by Tides Marine Inc. These seals are recommended for their dripless and wear-free performance, guaranteed for 2000 hours or two years.

Specifications and Features
  • Material: Non-metallic composite materials that are dimensionally stable and resistant to water absorption.
  • Design: Includes a removable front cap for easy seal replacement and a spare seal carrier for convenient storage and replacement without uncoupling the shaft.
  • Housing: Made from a fiber-reinforced composite material, offering strength and durability.
  • Bearing: Integral PTFE bearing extends the operating life and maintains integrity even if the water injection system fails.
  • Hose: Articulating hose design simplifies installation and reduces side loads, accommodating shaft misalignment up to 6mm.
  • Hose Clamps: Improved design that requires less tightening force and adjusts for temperature and pressure changes.

Medium Duty Conventional Packed Glands
Clements Marine offers a range of cast EN1982 'LG2' gunmetal standard terminals for power craft and sailing auxiliaries, using P.T.F.E. packing material to prevent abrasion.

Heavy Duty Shaft Seal for Commercial Use
The 'Profiseal' water-lubricated face type shaft sealing system is designed for heavy-duty applications, offering high durability in dirty waters without causing shaft wear.
  • Standard Outrigger Bearing: Designed for maximum stand-proud with a water feed from the engine cooling system.
  • Half Cutless Gland (Hull): Supports bearing with gland and water feed, featuring a nitrile water-lubricated bearing.
  • Forward Solid Gland (Tube): Allows free water flow from the lubrication point.
  • Forward Flexible Gland: Used in close-coupled installations, supplied with a rubber gaiter and stainless steel clips.

Self Aligning Shaft Seals and Packed Glands-1

Self Aligning Shaft Seals and Packed Glands Strong SureSeal Shaft Seals Complementing the more conventional shaft seals that are still widely used In the industry, Clements Marine principally recommend a complete range of non-metallic selt-allgning shall seals designed and produced by Tides This innovative seal has become widely used recently In the UK leisure boat design by a number ot the large builders. These seals have many performance enhancing characteristics but specifically their dripless and wear free performance over a guaranteed 2000 hour, or two year operating life The components are manufactured using non-metallic composite materials which are dlmensionally un-affected by temperature changes and will not become damaged by water absorbtion. With over 50,000 units sold, STRONG UHMW self- aligning shaft seals are used as standard equipment by more boat builders in the USA than any other. The manufacturers claim that this system has begun to redefine the standard, offering numerous design and performance Improvements. Seat Replacement- The new design incorporates a removable front cap which allows access to the lip seal making It easy to remove and replace, especially in 'cramped quarters', once the normal operating life of the componenent has been reached. Spare Seal Carriers- This proprietary product is available for installatori at the time the Strong SureSeal is fitted This feature safely and conveniently stores a spare seal clamped on to the propeller shaft next to the seal assembly. In this way the lip seal can be replaced without uncoupling the shaft from the transmission, and if necessary, whilst the vessel is still in the water. Housing- Made from a new fibre re-lnforced composite material, the housing is stronger, smaller and more durable than its predecessor. Dlmensionally unaffected by temperature change, the SureSeal will not absorb Bearing- The Integral PTFE bearing extends the useful operating life of the SureSeal under normal operating conditions. Should the water injection system fall to provide lubrication to the lip seal and bearing surface, the Integrity of the SureSeal PTFE bearing and fibre- reinforced housing Is unaffected for many hours. This feature allows the vessel operator to simply replace the worn lip seal, restoring the "100% watertight" Hose- Connecting the SureSeal to the boat has been made easier via an all new "articulating " hose. Matched to each housing size, the hose design positions the unit relative to the stern tube so that the required operating clearance Is achieved without measurement (simplifying Installation). The new hose greatly reduces the side loads to the SureSeal when shaft misalignment occurs (as much as 6mm In any direction), extending lipseal and bearing life. Hose Clamps- The hose clamps themselves are an improved design which will not tear or mark the hose surfaces, requiring less tightening force and thus adjusting for the changes In the hose diameter caused by variations In temperature and pressure.
