Overview
The C280 marine propulsion and auxiliary engines offer reliable power with continuous and maximum continuous ratings available at 900 and 1000 rpm in 6, 8, 12, and 16 cylinder configurations. These engines promise overhaul intervals of 40,000 hours.

Intelligent Electronics
The ADEM™ A3 electronic control system enhances engine performance by integrating precise engine management. Key features include an electronic display, tighter control over parameters, simplified diagnostics, expanded monitoring capabilities, and maintenance-free operation. The system is compatible with the GMS display system and uses a CAN J1939 data link.

Fuel System
The new Electronic Unit Injection (EUI) fuel system optimizes combustion with variable injection timing and duration. This system improves fuel efficiency, reducing specific fuel consumption and emissions, and meets current and future EPA and IMO emissions standards.

Durability and Service
The C280 engines incorporate proven reliability from the 3600 series with modern electronic fuel injection. Caterpillar offers worldwide parts and service through over 2,100 dealer outlets, ensuring most parts orders are filled within 24 hours.
