Product catalog summary
Specifications:
  • The device features both analog tape display and digital read-out for magnetic or true heading, with adjustable background lighting.
  • It automatically acquires magnetic variation from GPS, with an option for manual input from sea charts.
  • Users can select between magnetic or true heading displays, and the device provides a graphical representation of these headings over 2-hour intervals for the past 24 hours.
  • The accuracy of the device is better than +/- 0.5°.
  • It includes a power failure alarm for main/emergency supply voltage with automatic change-over.
  • The device has GL approval as TMHD according to ISO 11606 with specific compass types.
Procedures:
  • Automatic checks of input signals are conducted.
  • Manual entry of variation data is required if GPS data is unavailable.
  • The device switches to the original magnetic heading display if GPS variation data fails.
Standards and Approvals:
  • The device is EU MED Type and IEC60945 approved.
  • It is MED Mod. B type approved for specific magnetic compass combinations according to IMO standards.
Recommendations:
  • It is recommended for use with a conventional “A” class magnetic compass for high sea use.
  • Proper installation is advised for either built-in or bracket mounting.
Additional Features:
  • The monitor display includes current heel angle, pitch angle, and horizontal acceleration.
  • Data cables are screened and included in the package.
Data Transmission Specifications:
  • The document specifies data transmission protocols with a baud rate of 4800 or 38400, using an 8N1 configuration (8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit).
  • The transmission rate varies from 1 to 50 per second depending on the protocol used.
Data Protocols:
  • GPS Input Data Protocol: Utilizes the $GPRMC format for transmitting GPS data, including UTC of position fix, latitude, longitude, speed, course over ground, and checksum.
  • Magnetic Compass Input Data Protocol: Monitors display current heel and pitch angles, with a trend plot for heel angle and roll amplitudes.
  • Output Data Protocol: TRUEcourse protocol for heading data, using $HCHDT and $HCHDG formats for transmitting heading information.
Device Features:
  • The TRUEcourse monitor can display magnetic or true heading, switching automatically based on GPS data availability.
  • It records a 2-hour history of heading data.
Approvals and Mounting:
  • The device is MED Mod. B type approved for use with specific magnetic compass systems.
  • It is available in flush mount (1.7 kg) and bracket mount (1.9 kg) configurations, with IP44 front and IP22 back protection.

TRUE ransmittingMagneticHeadingOevice Transmitting Magnetic Heading Device for Transmitting Magnetic Heading Device for true heading display and output as calculated of the magntic compass heading by use of the local variation data received from the GPS. Usually the magnetic heading source will be a conventional “A” class magnetic compass for high sea use. TRUEcourse is certified acc. to relevant ISO11606 and other specification. NMEA true heading output data sentence can be used to compare directly with satellite or gyro heading and to north stabilize the RADAR. In case of GPS variation data failure TRUEcourse will automatically switch over and display to original magnetic heading data. Furthermore variation data can be manually entered. A very unique feature is the 2h grapical recorder for magnetic and true heading within a total time periode ofthe past 24h.
