SuperYacht of the Week: Burger Boat's Tò-Kalòn - Yacht Features - SuperyachtTimes.com Page 1 of 5 SuperYacht of the Week: Burger Boat's Tò-Kalòn Monday, 16 March 2009 By Merijn de Waard In September 2006 Burger Boat Company announced the signing of the contract for a contemporarystyled 101ft (31m) enclosed bridge, high speed motor yacht, project Liberty. With a team consisting of Cor D. Rover as the exterior stylist combined with the talented Donald L. Blount & Associates engineering group and the highly acclaimed Burger Design Team, this boat promised to be absolutely incredible. Just over 2 years after the contract was signed the SuperYachtTimes.com team had to pleasure to visit TòKalòn at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and she didn’t disappoint. Top priorities for the construction of Tò-Kalòn were the “need-for-speed” combined with world-class yacht quality. The unique hull design has both a hard and soft chine. With this combination, the hard chine provides the necessary lift to achieve higher speeds and the soft chine ensures comfortable sea-keeping qualities. Extensive use of lightweight materials and carefully calculated design and engineering parameters ensure the yacht is capable to reach a top speed of 27.8 knots. The all aluminium Tò-Kalòn is powered by a pair of 2,400 hp MTU-M93 Common Rail marine engines, wellproven in Europe for reliable high speed performance. The fully ABS certified vessel has several unique features including a comprehensive ship’s monitoring and information system integrated with the entire vessel’s electrical power system. The owners of Tò-Kalòn wanted a unique vessel, they loved the idea of having a one-of-a-kind vessel, unlike others docked at marinas and seen along the waterways. Tò-Kalòn's interior revolves around the Sapele paneling with accents of Sapele Pomele which flows throughout the main deck saloon and guest accommodations providing the perfect background for traditional furnishings. The owner’s stateroom is located on the lower deck and aft of the stateroom are two separate bathrooms with shared shower. The walls behind the queen sized bed feature a scrolled pattern Marquetry. Forward of the owner’s stateroom are two additional guest cabins with ensuite bathrooms; one twin cabin and one double cabin. On the upper deck we find the skylounge/pilothouse. Electric sliding doors are centered in the aft bulkhead leading to upper aft deck. The teak covered aft deck includes lounge seats and a hot tub with sun pads. Owned by an experienced yachting family from the United States, the owners are looking forward to entertaining family and friends during their many planned cruises....
