International news Abeking & Rasmussen’s Largest Yacht Yet After nearly three years in build, Abeking & Rasmussen’s stunning 257ft 7in Eminence makes for the open water, marking a milestone for the German yard. While the yard’s hundred-year history includes some notable big ship builds, the order for Eminence, placed in September 2005, marked the largest yacht the yard had undertaken to date. With interior and exterior design by Reymond Langton Design, and naval architecture by Abeking’s in-house engineering team, Eminence was always going to be a special yacht. And so she has turned out – with a beam of 40 feet and 8 inches, and luxurious accommodations set out over five decks, she is sure to be a head-turner wherever she cruises. Her vast main saloon features a mix of seating and lounging areas, complete with a grand piano, card table and a bar, while the aft end of her upper deck will be used as an inside/outside dining area with seating for 16 guests. Forward on the upper deck is the impressive owner’s suite, complete with a library, office, gym, dressing area, two bathrooms and a raised bedroom area with stunning panoramic views. There are a further seven guest cabins, complete with en suites finished in onyx and Estremoz marble. A 23ft-wide section of the transom lowers to give a generous bathing platform, with a 33ft limousine tender and a 26ft RIB housed behind retractable screens. Twin Cats will propel her to 16.5 knots, and her easily driven hull should allow a cruising range of 6,000nm. She is built to Lloyd’s and MCA codes. –TT Abeking & Rasmussen Tel: +49 42 16 7330 info@abeking.com www.abeking.com SPECS LOA: 257ft7in / Beam: 40ft8in / Draft: 10ft6in / Engines: 2 x1492kWCaterpillars / Navalarchitecture/design:Abeking&Rasmussen/ReymondLangtonDesign Burger’s New Splash Burger Boat Company Tel: (920) 684-1600 | www.burgerboat.com New to the water since September 20th, Tò-Kalòn (Hull 509) is an elegant, feature filled, enclosed bridge motor yacht from Burger Boat Company, with exterior design by Cor D. Rover. Powered by twin MTU 2,400hp diesels, the yacht exudes classic, stately Burger style in a traditional arrangement designed by Donald Blount & Assoc. and the Burger Design Team. Making her debut at the 2008 Fort Lauderdale boat show, Tò-Kalòn packs a lot into her 101ft 6in hull and classically inspired interior, with a full-beam master stateroom, walk-in closets and his-andhers heads amidships, along with two guest staterooms (one with a queen-size bed, one with twins) forward. Two double en suite bow quarters accommodate four crew. The main deck, extremely spacious for a yacht of her length, sports an elegantly appointed main saloon, bar and dining area, all graced by wide, arched windows, with a spiral stairway connecting all three decks. Equally airy, a roomy country kitchen arrangement offers a more informal setting for either owner or crew use, with a forward spiral from the pantry down to the crew quarters. Tò-Kalòn’s pilothouse, which blends classic character with the latest technologies such as oversized flatscreen monitors, is integrated with a less formal skylounge whose sliding doors open onto a capacious, partly canopied after deck with a wet bar, barbecue, hot tub and dayhead. A Castoldi tender is stowed aft. –TP SPECS LOA: 101ft6in / Beam: 22ft6in / Draft: 5ft3in / Engines: 2 xMTU 2,400hpdiesels / Speed (max/cruise): 16.7/15.5 knots Naval architecture/design: Donald Blount& Assoc. /Cor D.
