Bentz created a roomy interior by keeping its helm seat mounted well forward and by using a 9’ beam, leaving plenty of room for gear and passengers. The canvas top frame not only keeps everyone dry but is high enough for a 6’ person to stand upright. The single 502 TBI Marine power gas engine drives a Hamilton 241 pump with a turbo impeller. This heavy-duty combination provides plenty of power to handle heavy loads and the turbo impeller significantly reduces cavitation in whitewater while letting the boat cruise on plane at lower rpm’s. Despite its reduced length, Bentz puts the same substructure in the hull as it uses in the large tour boats. 5086 marine aluminum is used throughout: sides, bottom, transom, and bracing. For extra protection in rocky river channels, ½” thick plating shields the rear 4’ of the delta pad bottom. This design also incorporates the mechanical stick steering pioneered by Bentz Boats.
