Technical Data Sheet AmpliTex 5031 AmpliTex dense biax (0°/90°) flax fabric 200 gsm 1. Product description Bidirectional fabric with fibres oriented at 0° and 90° suitable for manufacturing of fiber reinforced composite products with high performance and low environmental impact. Very good drapability ideal for complex shapes High laminate stiffness due to low crimp with satin weave Fabric construction Fibre type: Construction: Yarn tex : Fabric weight : Flax (EU) 0° / 90°, satin weave 200 TEX 200 gsm +/- 5% 100 gsm in each direction Standard width: Standard roll length*: satin weave 1150 mm 100 m * other length on request 3. Mechanical properties Composite properties Properties measured on samples with 5 layers aligned at 0°, manufactured in a press with 5 bars pressure (45% fiber weight), with Epoxy resin R&G typ L, cured at 80°C. Fibers dried 30min at 110C° prior process. Flexural Modulus parallel to one fiber direction Flexural Strength parallel to one fiber direction Flexural Yield Strength parallel to one fiber direction Tensile Modulus parallel to one fiber direction Tensile Strength parallel to one fiber direction Tensile Strain to failure parallel to one fiber direction Fiber properties Properties of fibers used in the fabric are: Tensile modulus of fibers Tensile strength fibers Density of fiber Considering that glass fibers have a density of 2.6 kg/dm3 and a tensile modulus of 70 GPa, the flax ampliTex 0°/90° 200 g/m2 can replace a 320 g/m2 glass fiber 0°/90° fabric to have the same stiffness in tension. In compression, the performance of flax is a bit lower, so that the flax ampliTex 0°/90° 200 g/m2 can replace a 230 g/m2 glass fiber 0°/90° fabric to have the same stiffness.

Technical Data Sheet AmpliTex 5031 4. Processing guidelines Good compatibility with epoxy and polyester Near-zero CTE, hence good processing compatibility with carbon fibres Compatible with infusion-based processes (vacuum infusion, RTM), wet layup, bladder inflation molding (BIM), compression molding Sensitive to humidity: dry fabric prior impregnating at 110°C for 15 minutes in ventilated oven Fiber weight fraction of 50% can be reached with process pressure >5 bars. However, the fibers absorb a lot of resin when laminating the fabric and it tends to look “dry” (unless too much resin is...
