Product Data Sheet bCores® D200 SKI d balsa plywood construction Product description c. ±45 flax composite shear web b. flat gram balsa bCores® D200 is a structural core suitable for composite applications. The core is made of Balsa Plywood and flax fiber reinforcement materials to significantly improve mechanical properties, especially fatigue and long-term shear properties in length direction. The balsa plywood ensures an exceptionally high compression strength and stiffness, which guarantees good bending properties of the core. Core construction Wood type: FSC certified BANOVA® balsa plywood Flax shear web: Bcomp ampliTex #5008, 60% fibres, 40% resin Dimensions Standart width: Size M: 120 mm, Size L: 140 mm Thickness: 2-300 mm Maximum length: 3070 mm Number of flax reinforcement: Size M: 4, Size L: 5 Mechanical mean properties on the core width Machining guidelines • D200 cores can be processed with high-speed wood working machine. • Best results for shaping D200 cores are obtained with belt sanding machines. • For contour milling, climb milling has to be preferred to conventional milling. • With CNC-milling, it is important to be careful with transition from stiff flax reinforcements to the softer wood. • After machining, cutting dust has to be carefully removed with vacuum cleaning equipment. * All these values are average values for the complete core. As the high-density balsa is mainly on the sides, it is mostly removed in the center of the ski when the sidecut is machined. Thus the actual density of the core in final shape will be in the range between 200-210 kg/m3. The fibrous surfaces of the flax reinforcements obtained after machining enhance the core-to-skin bonding, thus it is purposeful.
