Product catalog summary
Fabric Construction
The ampliTex® Art. No. 5057 is a non-crimp unidirectional flax fabric with fibres oriented at 0°. It uses flax fibres from the EU with a fibre tex of 300 TEX and a fabric weight of 150 gsm +/- 5%. The stitching thread is textured polyester at 4/cm.
Measurements
The standard width of the fabric is 1000 mm, and the standard roll length is 50 m.
Performance Advantage
The flax ampliTex UD 150 gsm can replace a 250 gsm glass fibre UD fabric for equivalent tensile stiffness and a 220 gsm glass fibre UD fabric for equivalent compressive stiffness.
Technical Specifications
The composite properties include a flexural modulus of 33.3 GPa parallel to fibres and 3.6 GPa perpendicular. The strength is 315 MPa parallel and 43.4 MPa perpendicular to fibres. The yield strength Rp0.2 parallel to fibres is 191 MPa. The density of fibres is 1430 kg/m3, and the ply thickness is 0.20 mm.
Processing Guidelines
The fabric is compatible with epoxy and polyester resins and various processing methods such as vacuum infusion and compression moulding. It is recommended to dry the fabric at 110°C for 15 minutes if moisture is a concern. A fibre weight fraction of 60% can be achieved with process pressure over 5 bars.
Ecological Aspects
The flax is grown in France and Belgium, contributing to a negative global warming indicator due to CO2 sequestration. Compared to glass fibres, ampliTex flax has lower human toxicity, greenhouse gas emissions, and non-renewable energy consumption.

Product Data Sheet ampliTex ® Art. No. 5057 Product description Non-crimp unidirectional flax fabric with fibres oriented at 0°, suitable for manufacturing fibre reinforced composite products with high performance and low environmental impact. Fabric construction Fibre type: Flax (EU) Construction: 0° Fibre tex: 300 TEX Fabric weight: 150 gsm +/- 5% Stitching thread: textured polyester. 4/cm Measurements Standard width: 1000 mm Standard roll length: 50 m Performance advantage Considering that glass fibres have a density of 2600 kg/m3 and a tensile modulus of 70 GPa, the flax ampliTex UD 150 gsm can replace a 250 gsm glass fibre UD fabric to have the same stiffness in tension. In compression, the performance of flax is lower, so that the flax ampliTex UD 150 gsm can replace a 220 gsm glass fibre UD fabric to have the same stiffness. *Measured on specimens made by vacuum infusion and then pressed at 6 bars, 12 layers of fabric, resin 5052 from Huntsman, 52%Vf
