New wood: remove excess oils by using a marine teak cleaner or wood bleach. This will promote color uniformity and adhesion. Thoroughly remove all cleaner and neutralizer residue before proceeding. Sand to level the grain using 150 – 180 grit paper. Always sand in the direction of the grain. Remove any sanding residue prior to application.
