AWL®COAT TPC

Product catalog summary
Features & Uses: Awl-Coat TPC is a water-based, temporary peelable coating designed to protect surfaces from damage or contamination. It is particularly useful for boat builders and can be applied over Awlgrip and Awlcraft 2000 topcoats.
Specification Data: The product is a vinyl acrylic type, available in 5-gallon containers. Theoretical coverage is 267 - 160 ft²/gallon at 3-5 mils dry. Recommended wet film thickness is 6-10 mils per coat, and dry film thickness is 3-5 mils per coat. Recoatability varies with temperature, and the product should not be left on surfaces for more than 4 months.
Application Equipment: Suitable for conventional or airless spray, with specific recommendations for spray gun types and settings. Brush application is only suitable for small areas.
Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Mask adjoining surfaces to prevent overspray. Do not apply over unpainted gelcoat, polycarbonates, glass, or wood.
Mixing and Reduction: Awl-Coat TPC is a single-component coating and should be mixed thoroughly. Do not reduce the product.
Application Instructions: Apply to the recommended film thickness, ensuring a smooth, continuous film. Avoid defects like sags, and consider environmental conditions. Overspray can be removed with a damp cloth.
Removal: Once dry, the coating can be peeled off. If removed before fully dry, peeling efficiency may be compromised. A light haze may occur but usually self-corrects.
Warnings: Do not apply to surfaces less than 3°C above dew point or warmer than 41°C. Keep from freezing and ensure proper disposal according to regional regulations.
Disclaimer: Users should test the product for compatibility and suitability under their conditions. The information is subject to change based on continuous product development.
