The 545 Anti-Corrosive Epoxy Primer is a two-component epoxy primer designed for excellent corrosion resistance and adhesion on steel, aluminum, wood, and fiberglass. It is VOC compliant with a level of 420g/l or 3.5lbs/gal, suitable for use above or below the waterline, and applied via spray.

Application Equipment
Suitable for conventional or airless spray equipment. Specific recommendations include Graco or Binks equivalent spray guns with specified orifice sizes and pressure settings.

Surface Preparation
  • Aluminum: Sandblast or grind to a 2-3 mil profile
  • Steel: Sandblast/Grind SSPC-SP10 or Sa 21/2
  • Gelcoat/Fiberglass: Sand with 100-150 grit paper
  • Wood: Smooth sand with 80-100 grit paper

Mixing and Reduction
Mix one part 545 base with one part D3400, reduce up to 25% with T0167 or T0163. Induction time is 15 minutes, with a pot life of 16 hours at 73°F/50% R.H.

Application Instructions
Apply 2-3 coats at 7-10 mils WFT to achieve 2-3 mils DFT. Avoid application on surfaces less than 3°C above dew point or warmer than 41°C. Minimum ambient temperature is 13°C.

Warnings
Do not apply to surfaces below 55°F. Use of COLD CURE Accelerator M3066 will increase VOC levels beyond compliance.

PRODUCT DATA SHEET 545 ANTI-CORROSIVE EPOXY PRIMER VOC COMPLIANT (US ONLY) D8001/D3400 or D1001/D3400 Features & Uses VOC Compliant 545 is a two component epoxy primer with outstanding corrosion and adhesion properties for steel, aluminum, wood, and fiberglass substrates. VOC Compliant 545 has a VOC level of only 420g/l or 3.5lbs/gal (US only) and is used to seal surfacing primers before applying topcoats. It is spray applied and may be used above or below the waterline. Specification Data Type: Epoxy Polyamide Packaging: Available in 1 Gallon and 1 Quart containers. Theoretical Coverage: 497 Sq. feet/gallon (46m 2) at one mil dry (25 microns); 165-248 Sq. Feet (15-23m 2) at recommended dry film thickness. Calculated for mixed base and converter, reduced 25%. Coverage calculations are based on theoretical transfer efficiency of 100%. Actual coverage rate obtained will vary according to equipment choice, application techniques, part size, and application environment.
