40 ST E1

40 ST E1

Product catalog summary
Specifications:
The document provides technical specifications for the Andersen Powered Winch model RA2040011300, RA2040001300, specifically the 40 ST E1 model. This winch features a self-tailing mechanism, an E1 electric motor, and operates with a 12VDC power supply. It offers two-speed manual operation and one-speed electric operation. The power ratio for the first speed is 8.9:1, and for the second speed, it is 40.0:1. The gear ratio is 1.3:1 for the first speed and 6.0:1 for the second speed. The maximum working load is 800kg (1760lb).
Electrical Installation:
The document outlines the requirements for electrical installation, including wire length and size, fuse or circuit breaker specifications, start-up motor current, additional battery capacity per winch, and minimum battery bank capacity. For wire lengths of 0-3m (0-10ft), a 35mm² wire size is recommended, with a 120A fuse or circuit breaker, 600A start-up motor current, 114Ah additional battery capacity, and a 300Ah minimum battery bank capacity. For wire lengths of 3-8m (10-27ft), a 50mm² wire size is recommended.
Performance and Safety:
The motor is designed to cut out at pre-determined current and temperature limits to ensure safety. The document emphasizes the importance of using a 'slow blow' or 'long delay' type circuit breaker to accommodate the start-up current spike. It also provides guidelines for calculating the minimum additional battery capacity required, recommending consulting a qualified marine electrician for advice.
Physical Dimensions:
The winch has specific physical dimensions, including a rope size range of 8-14mm (5/16 - 9/16”), a drum diameter of 75mm (2 15/16”), a base diameter of 152mm (6”), a height of 183mm (7 3/16”), and a weight of 19kg (41.9lb). The document also provides details on motor offset and installation dimensions, noting that extensions are available for thicker decks.
Installation and Accessories:
The motor units come with an installation manual, push button, and cable terminals. Circuit breakers are available separately. The document advises referring to the product manual for detailed installation instructions and push button to motor unit cable connection details. Full installation dimensions can be downloaded from the Andersen Winches website.

The number of Ah for all other electrical equipment ADDITIONAL MINIMUM BATTERY BATTERY CAPACITY BANK 4 PER WINCH CAPACITY 5 114Ah must be added to this figure to determine the Ah requirement of the total battery bank capacity. A good rule of thumb is to use 3 x this total Ah figure as the minimum additional battery capacity for your battery bank. We recommend you contact a qualified marine electrician for advice. 5.
