Overview: The Aqua Cat 14 Catamaran is a larger version of a popular one-design catamaran, offering enhanced performance, simplicity, and weight-carrying capabilities. It is designed for both ocean sailing and inland lakes, accommodating up to four large adults or supporting up to 1,000 lbs.
Design and Features: The catamaran features wide, flat bottom hulls with turned-up bows and small keel skegs, replacing the daggerboards of smaller models. This design allows for easy beaching and superior weight capacity and planing speed. The boomless sail rig, supported by a tubular 'A' frame, enhances simplicity and safety. The Aqua Cat 14 weighs 230 lbs and has a 6-1/2 foot beam, making it easy to transport.
Construction: Made from hand-laid fiberglass, anodized aluminum tubing, and stainless steel fasteners, the catamaran requires minimal maintenance. The durable all-aluminum rudder system features wide performance-designed aluminum blades, and positive foam flotation in each hull, along with a mast flotation ball, ensures safety.
Standard Features: The Aqua Cat 14 includes spring-loaded kick-up rudders, a 105 sq. ft. Dacron sail, a 360 quick-release cleat, and rudder lift systems. It is available with white hulls and red side stripes, and four sail combinations.
Resort Special Version: A resort-specific version is available, featuring a smaller 90 sq. ft. sail, a shorter mast, and the elimination of the 360 main sheet cleat to reduce capsize risks. This version is ideal for novice sailors and is popular as a resort rental craft.
