Ultrasonic cutting is popular in the manufacture of window furnishings, window shades or blinds where a clean cut, fray-free edge is required. In many cases, this edge finish can be achieved using a rotary blade cutter but on some coarse woven materials and fabric with a glass fibre core where edge sealing is required, ultrasonic cutting may be the best choice. And unlike conventional ultrasonic cutters, the Elektron B2 Ultra can not only cut all sides of a shape without moving the fabric from the table, it an also cut more than one pattern from a length of fabric... leading to significant productivity improvements. The Elektron B2 Ultra is an Elektron B2 cutter fitted with an ultrasonic tool and generator. If the ultrasonic tool is removed from the bayonet tool holder (a 15 second process) the only visible difference between these two cutters is the power connection for the ultrasonics on the front plate of the Elektron B2 Ultra cutting head, the ultrasonic generator under the table and the vacuum table cutting surface. Since the Elektron B2 is already a very capable machine, able to carry a wide range of bayonet mounted tools including creasing and scoring tools, drag blades, rotary blades and powered tools such as reciprocating blade cutters, the Elektron B2 Ultra is effectively future proofed.
