Soundac NGN2000

Product catalog summary
Description
Soundac® NGN2000 is a specially formulated blend of polymers designed to create a fibreglass reinforced plastic structure with high damping of structure-borne noise. The recommended thickness ratio between Soundac® NGN2000 and the subsoil is at least 1:3. It should be applied when the overall structural thickness is achieved, with a constraining FRP layer about 1/3 of the main structure thickness.

Application
The product addresses noise issues in motor yachts, focusing on:
  • Structural borne noise: Noise from the hull, bulkheads, and deckhouse caused by propeller cavitations and engine vibrations.
  • Airborne noise: Direct noise from the engine.
  • Sound reduction: Utilizes viscoelastic damping with Soundac® NGN2000 over the propeller and around the engine foundation.

Specifications
  • Weight: 0.65 kg/m²
  • Thickness: 0.8 mm
  • Dimensions: 30 x 1.25 m

Installation
Soundac® NGN2000 bonds well with polyester resin used in FRP constructions and can be applied in wet polyester without separate adhesive. For fibreglass hulls, the surface should be prepared with a steel brush, followed by a layer of polyester resin and Soundac® NGN2000. The material should be rolled to remove air bubbles, and additional polyester layers should be applied until the desired thickness is reached.

Performance
Sound pressure levels before and after treatment in a motor yacht's aft cabin show a reduction from 96 dB(A) to 90 dB(A) when treated with Soundac® NGN2000. The loss factor for polyester with Soundac® NGN2000 is noted at various frequencies (200 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz).

Soundac NGN2000-1

Soundac® NGN2000 Anti-drumming fibreglass reinforced constructions Description Soundac® NGN2000 is a special formulated blend of polymers designed to supply a final structure of fibreglass reinforced plastic, fibreglass, plastic and wood with very high damping of structure born noise. The thickness ® ratio between the Soundac NGN2000 and the subsoil is minimal 1 : 3. It should be applied at the stage where the overall structural thickness has been attained and a constraining FRP layer should added in thickness about 1/3 of the main structure thickness. Application The noise problem on a motor yacht can be divided into: Structural born: Structure borne noise radiated from the hull, bulkheads and deckhouse. This is caused by propeller cavitations and vibrations induced at the engine foundation. Airborne noise: Direct transmitted airborne noise from the engine. Sound reduction: Viscoelastic damping Soundac® NGN2000 in the part over propeller and around the engine foundation.
