Product catalog summary
Product Description: The 3M™ Marine Grade Silicone Sealant is a mildew-resistant, non-sagging, moisture-curing silicone rubber sealant designed for above-waterline applications. It remains flexible and offers excellent resistance to marine environments, adhering to various materials including metal, glass, fiberglass, wood, and plastics.
Features: The sealant is mildew resistant, flexible, one-part curing, weather-resistant, high-temperature resistant, non-shrinking, and non-sagging.
Physical Properties: Available in white and clear, the sealant has a density of approximately 8.67 lbs/gallon, a flash point over 250°F, and a service temperature range from -40°F to 190°F. It has a tack-free time of 30-45 minutes and a full cure time of 24 hours at 75°F and 50% relative humidity.
Performance Properties: The sealant demonstrates varying peel and shear strengths across different substrates, with cohesive failure being the desired mode.
Application Information: Surfaces must be cleaned of contaminants before application. The sealant is not recommended for unprimed glass, polycarbonate, or acrylic windows. It should not be applied below 40°F or on frost-covered surfaces. Cleanup involves using a dry cloth and specific cleaners before curing.
Storage and Handling: Recommended storage temperature is between 60°F and 80°F, with a shelf life of 36 months.
Precautionary Information: Users should refer to the product label and MSDS for health and safety information. The document includes a warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability.
