Clear CoatTechnical Data Sheet Product Line Description Propspeed Clear Coat Propspeed is an environmentally safe long life foul release coating which prevents the attachment of marine growth by low critical surface tension. Propspeed does not contain copper or tin compounds or any other toxic substances which might cause environmental pollution. Typical Uses As a fouling preventative coating for boat propellers and running gear. Because Propspeed does not contain copper it is suitable for use close to stern drive, rudder assemblies, underwater lights, keel coolers and bow thrusters. Physical Properties Binder type - Recommendedfilmbuild -Thinning & clean up - Silicone Polymer Aromatic/Aliphatic Blend Clear coating Glossy 20 minutes touch dry 8 hours hard dry @ 20°C Between 8 hours and 5 days at 20°C 12m2 / Lt 75 microns per coat Acetone 12 months Surface Preparation & Application See application video www.propspeed.com Propellers, shafts and rudders Clean off all marine growth. Sand with 80 grit paper. Wash with clean water to remove sanding dust and allow to dry. Use Propclean to remove any organic contaminants, including grease and oil resulting from fingertip contact with the metal substrate. Wipe on and wipe off immediately with a clean cloth until clean. Apply Propprep to provide a chemically conditioned surface and wipe off with a clean cloth. Apply 2 coats Propspeed Etching Primer, when touch dry apply 1 full coat Propspeed Clear by brush, ensuring edges are free from drips. Do not immerse for minimum of 8 hours. New Propellers We recommend pre-conditioning all metal with Propclean and Propprep before applying the Etch Primer, refer to Propclean and Propprep data sheets. Removal and Recoating of Propspeed Process: When reapplying Propspeed the following steps should be taken. • Remove the old Propspeed using 80 grit paper or Propstrip (refer TDS sheet). • Clean entire area with Propclean and Propprep. • Recoat as per Propspeed instructions.
