History behind Linex-Boat Oy and Nord Star Patrol Boats from 1920s to the present Kokkola, like all of the Swedish-speaking coastal parts of Ostrobothnia, has been an area for ship and boatbuilding for centuries. In the 1920s, Sivert Lindkvist started to build 5-10 meter (16 - 32 foot) long wooden boats in Central-Ostrobothnia, Finland. That was the beginning of a boatbuilding career that has spanned three generations. Siverts son, Rude Lindkvist, followed in his father's footsteps, but started to make boats out of fiberglass instead of wood. Today, Rude's son, 011i Lindkvist, is in charge...

To the present day, the Lindkvists have made about 3400 GPR boats in the 6 - 13 m (19 - 40 foot) range. The present trademark is the Nord Star Patrol boats. These are hand laminated, strong offshore boats with walk-around decks. The actual model range includes 24, 26, 28, 31, 34 and 40 foot boats. In 2015 Linex-Boat will launch a brand new model, the Nord Star 32 Patrol to the market. The Linex-Boat Oy production facilities are located in Peltokorpi which is situated in Kokkola.
