History behind Linex-Boat Oy and Nord Star Patrol Boats Kokkola, like all of the Swedish-speaking coastal parts of Ostrobothnia has been an area for ship and boatbuilding for centuries. In the 1920s, Sivert Lindkvist started to build 5-10 meter (16-32 foot) long wooden boats in Central-Ostrobothnia, Finland. That was the beginning of a boatbuilding career that has spanned three generations. To the present day, the Lindkvists have made about 3400 GPR boats in the 6 - 13 m (19 - 40 foot) range. The present trademark is the Nord Star Patrol boats. These are hand laminated, strong offshore boats with walk-around decks. The actual model range includes 24, The Linex-Boat Oy production facilities are located in Peltokorpi which is situated in Kokkola. The total space of the facilities, over 11 000m2 (188,400 square feet), holds the laminating, pre-assembly, cabin production, finish assembly, office and storage space.
