Today's Standards Since 1999, Cummins has tested and certified marine engines to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI regulation, referred to as IMO Tier I. Ratified in 2005, IMO Tier I is a global exhaust emission regulation focused exclusively on nitrogen oxides (NOx).
