Vacuum packed protection

More than 15 years ago Zodiac came up with the idea of vacuum packing the liferaft in a partially evacuated plastic pocket. This keeps the life raft at a constantlevel of humidity and protects it from damaging changes of the environmentand the corrosive, salty atmosphere. A long life expectancy and increasedprotection of the vital safety equipment packed in the life raft are directbenefits of this system.

Thermobonding

®

This robotised hot assembly welding technique gives far superiorseams compared to the traditional hand gluing method still relied onby some manufacturers. The seam becomes stronger than thematerials it is joining and is extremely airtight.

Firing head

The vital part of the inflation process. Zodiac uses the sameexclusive firing head on all its life rafts from 4 person leisure modelsto 50 person commercial models. Using a tensioned firing pin(similar to that of a fire-arm) inflation is immediate and risk free:No moving parts to boat block the system or impede inflation. Unlikethe crude methods used in some life rafts, this system does notrely on the physical strength of the user to set it off, the pressureof releasing the trigger spring is enough to start the inflation.

Cellular foam floor with aluminium filmcoating

A particularly innovative sandwich design incorporates a cellular foam middlebetween a fabric base and aluminium film top layer. The layer of aluminium filmreflects back natural body heat providing protection and insulation from the cold ofthe water. This system offers superior insulation, lighter weight and needs noinflation system to work compared to an old-fashioned inflatable floor.

An optimum boarding system

An internal ladder coupled with a boarding ladder allows you to slide easily on boardfrom the water. The Racing ISAF and Open Sea ISO 9650 models are also equipped with a boarding ramp.
