The mast is in two partsfor easy onboard stowageand features a carbonfiber sleeve for easy takedown or assembly. A removable bowsprit enables thefitting of a roller furler and a light air jib. This could also be fitted to a standard Whitehall Spirit 17 but only prior to shipment.These sheet fairleads andcamcleat sheet stoppers make handling the jib sheet lines running aft very manageable. They can be retrofitted to any Whitehall Spirit 17 sail model.A boat compass is a greatnavigational aid and canbe retrofitted to anyWhitehall Spirit 17 sailmodel.A clew outhaul featuringa cast bronze car, track and cheek marine blocks allow for mainsail shape tuning. Standard only on the Expedition17 rig. Shown here is theboom jaws at the mastwith it’s leather chafinggear plus the jiffyreefing line andfairlead. This is also astandard option on allother sail models.The Expedition model features apair of deadeye type running backstays that are adjustable and provide for greater mast stability and jib luff tension when navigational to windward.A small easily accessedhand pump plumbed to a strainer “strum” box in the bilge makes getting out any water that comes aboard fast and easy. 11
