TESTED BY YVAN BOURGNON

24-hour graphZoom over 12 hoursZoom over 6 hours Live from the Jacques Vabre transat…
Ref. A4000 BR “Here’s the report concerning the VION “special marine”electronic barometer tested during the Jacques Vabretransat race: ? Graph indicating pressure changes over the previous 24 hours.? Positive points: we compared the values with thoseof another barometer that is frequently used by compe-titors and that is renowned for its precision but is also inaccessible dueto its high price: the values were similar within one tenth of a hPa during the whole period of the race… Ease of reading: it’s not necessary to put one’s face right up to it inorder to read it (which is not the case with others). Weight: extremely light: unbeatable. Reliability: in spite of the high humidity rate, the vibrations, it’s like new… Ease of use: no need to read the instruction manual to know how itworks. Zoom: a focused view of the air pressure changes over the previous 6 or 12 hours. ELABORATED FUNCTIONS TO ASSIST DECISION-MAKING ? ”Detect a reversal of the pressure trend”. HIST FUNCTION: immediate recall and visualization on the graph of the minimum and maximum pressure over the last 24 hours.? ”See the evolution of the pressure trend (change of marine watch)”. MEM FUNCTION: with immediate display of a situation stored and visualization on the graph.?
Ref. A4000 NT Points to be improved: the history curve is not easy to understand,it changes regularly, it would be preferable to have a real, roundedcurve. ”Foresee the arrival of low pressure or of an approaching anticyclonic wedge” ALARM FUNCTION:with adjustable sensitivity.? Conclusion: for the next race I’m removing the - - - - - - andreplacing it by the VION. Gale warning system: pressure drop ≥ 4hPa within a 3-hour period.? ” Continuous safety: running reserve allowing batteries to be changed withoutloss of information.
