CAPSTAN TYPE NELSON
A capstan is a rotating drum winch supplier, usually fitted to the top of larger anchor windlasses, to handle rope for boat. With its own integral motor, this VETUS capstan functions as an independent unit. In order to handle the stern lines when berthing, it is a useful addition when fitted to each stern quarter of larger and heavier sailboat boats. Particularly when mooring with an adverse crosswind, a capstan will greatly ease the job of the crew. The ideal configuration is: one capstan fitted on the bow and one located on either side of the transom.
