| | | The Veth Steering Grid is the most recent addition to the Veth product line. It is a 3600 rotating bow thruster manufacturer with thought through construction. The Veth Steering Grid has an innovative mechanical design, in which many successful parts of the Veth Bow Thruster for boat have been used such as the steering worm whee and main gearing. The easy to build in unit takes a limited amount of space. Thanks to the hydrodynamically optimised unit the Veth Steering Grid is very effective and can be deliverefl in a range from 300 to 650 hp. | | |
| | | With the help of a horizontally mounted propeller, the water is drawn up from underneath the vessel. After which the water is guided through an hydro dynamically shaped housing to a 360 degrees steerable grid. A major benefit of the Veth-Steering grid is that with a minimal draught the maximum thrust can be achieved without parts protruding through the sailboat ships hull. An additional advantage of the horizontally mounted propeller is that also when the ship is navigational the thruster still develops a considerable thrust. This is realized because of the upwards pressure of the water. The propeller has only 1 turning direction and therefore can be optimized. A reversing clutch is not necessary. The Steering Grid can be driven, which ever is desired, by a marine diesel engine, sailboat electric motor or hydraulic motor. | | | All gears and bearings are oil bath lubricated so an external greasing machine will not be necessary. For steering an oversized wormwheel is mounted with a big ratio of 70:1 which is driven hydraulically. This worm wheel is self braking so the drum will always remain in the correct position. The hydraulic pump for boat is mounted on the gearbox which reduces the piping to a minimum. | | |
