3.2 – CONFIGURATION DIAGRAMS 3.1 – GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION The 2000 TWIN series cooler functions as follows: a highly evaporable liquid enters a coil through an expansionvalve. In the coil, the liquid encounters lower pressure and evaporates. When it evaporates, it cools (reaching
temperatures of –30° C and below) and removes heat from the environment - in our case, the eutectic liquid in
which the coil is submerged. The vapour that forms in the coil is aspirated by the compressor and compressed.
When it is compressed, the vapour heats up (up to 60°C), remaining in a gaseous state. The vapour is sent to
the condenser, where it transfers its heat to the seawater circulating in the coil, thus cooling it. The water heats
up, and the vapour cools and returns to its liquid state, falling into the lower part of the condenser. It then
passes through a dehydrator filter and is re-injected into the evaporator. This cycle is repeated, thereby causing
the liquid in which the evaporator coil is submerged to freeze. The ice that forms on the plate stores cold
temperatures, which is used to chill food. The temperature of the ice formation depends on the characteristics of
the eutectic liquid, and is predetermined in the factory.
The 2000 TWIN series is therefore a unit that accumulates cold temperatures.
In a very short time, the 2000 TWIN series compressor produces a large quantity of cold that is accumulated in
the plate (eutectic evaporator) inserted in the icebox (insulated cavity). Two holding plate models are available:A) –11 freezing temperature for iceboxes with a positive temperature (+2/+6°C)
B) -22 freezing temperature for freezers with a negative temperature (-12/-14°C) The diagrams of various unit types are in appendixes R1419 (single holding plate) and R1420 (double holdingplate).
With double holding plate configuration, there are three different options for the control system of the second
plate:
a) the second plate is parallel to the first, installed in the same refrigerated cavity or in a second cavity of thesame size without an independent control system.b) the second plate is installed in a separate cavity with features that differ from the first, and is thereforeequipped with a solenoid valve controlled by a second thermostat or timer (option indicated in the R1420
diagram).c) in this case, an independent control system is required, so that the two plates can be made to functionindividually. To achieve this, a second solenoid valve is needed so that each holding plate can be ‘switched
off’ by isolating it from the system. 3.2 POSITIONING THE COMPONENTS 3.2.1 CONDENSING UNIT The condensing unit of the FRIGOBOAT 2000 TWIN series cooler must be installed on a flat surface in a dryenvironment. A maximum inclination of 25° is permitted during operation. This guarantees perfect functioning
with every type of movement of the
boat for boat.
It is not necessary to ventilate the installation area, as the
ventilators for boats assembled on the dissipaters and
electronics keep the temperature within acceptable values. 3.2.2 HOLDING PLATE The holding plate must be installed inside the insulated cavity, at the highest point possible. Every Frigoboatplate comes with two special support brackets in stainless steel, which can be used to install the plates on
walls. The Frigoboat plate must be installed vertically or angled, but not in a horizontal position against the
ceiling. The thermostatic valve mounted on the plate can be on the end, on the top or on the side. It CANNOT
be mounted on the bottom. 3.4 CONNECTION HOSES AND QUICK COUPLINGS All components of the 2000 TWIN Series are preloaded in the factory with R134a coolant and equipped withFrigoboat quick couplings.
The pipes are provided cut to size with an interval of 50 cm. (1 metre for liquid pipes over 3m).
The ‘A’ suction line is made of plastic-covered copper, and has two flexible 30 cm crop ends at both ends to
facilitate the connection.
The pipe for liquid ‘B’ is made of plastic-covered copper (with a smaller diameter). One end of tube ‘B’ is
equipped with a liquid indicator, which can be used to check how well the system is functioning.
This end should be assembled from the compressor side so it can be accessed for inspections.
We recommend that you connect the system’s components, leaving the connection of the dehydrator filter to the
compressor until last.
All FRIGOBOAT 2000 TWIN series components are supplied with quick couplings that hold the original coolant
load and allow the
refrigerator for boats circuit to be connected easily and safely. 4 >
