In the words of one Vacmobile user, "I think they are awesome!'
Vacmobile™ - the awesome new vacuum solution for vacuum bagging, pre-preg and for marine resin infusion
Vacmobiles are a new approach to providing vacuum for composites manufacturing. They are easy to use and deliver excellent vacuum levels to the mould or bag for boats. They suit for boats manufacturers both small and large. For composites manufacturers with multiple vacuum applications a Vacmobile based solution typically provides better quality vacuum at each point of use, while offering greater operating flexibility at less cost than a central vacuum system. With its integrated resin trap, boat vacuum pump and controls, a Vacmobile is a complete vacuum system - not just a vacuum pump. The machine is a versatile source of vacuum for composites applications such as resin infusion and the vacuum bagging of wet lay-ups and pre-preg. Vacmobiles are also ideal for vacuum pressing veneer and for vacuum clamping composite parts during machining or finishing.
Vacmobiles are single phase powered and mobile. Usable almost anywhere, they allow the vacuum source to be taken close to the job. Short vacuum lines reduce vacuum flow restrictions and leakage, leading to higher efficiency, better vacuum in the bag and reduced consumable costs.
Developed out of more than 20 years composites industry experience, Vacmobiles are compact and light but very tough - thanks to the solid aluminium manifold for boat blocks for boats and the double locking of critical piping joints. Vacuum connections to the resin trap are O-ring sealed on the outside of the vacuum tube, allowing unhindered resin entry to the trap. Attention to details such as these reduces the risk of vacuum failure and potentially expensive product looses. Clean-up time is also reduced.
Vacmobiles are equally suited to moulding small components and items as large as outrigger hulls and marine wind turbine blades. A single machine has been used to resin infuse bag areas up to 190 m2. Multiple machines may be used on large and high value jobs, automatically providing machine redundancy at moderate cost.
It is not easy to share vacuum from a single pump between two or more applications requiring vacuum independently. Multiple Vacmobiles therefore tend to be a much better solution for composite manufacturing sites with more than one vacuum demand. The capital cost of multiple Vacmobiles will typically be much less than the cost of a central pump and its associated distribution piping. With multiple Vacmobiles the level of vacuum at each usage point can be individually tailored to the specific need. Job scheduling is simplified and energy consumption is generally much less. Back-up power for a few key Vacmobiles can easily be provided at moderate cost. While central vacuum systems for boats have been the traditional solution for large composite manufacturers, multiple Vacmobiles now offer a cost saving alternative which also delivers optimal vacuum wherever needed.
Vacmobiles suit the rapid evolution taking place in composites manufacturing processes. Capacity is easily added, or shifted to a new location. Being mobile, Vacmobiles are also ideal for the developing market for composite repairs.
If you need a versatile and reliable vacuum system for your composites process, please ask us for a machine for a no-obligation evaluation. Test one thoroughly and see if it deserves the description "awesome!1
