Transas Navigational Simulators
BOAT SIMULATOR COMPONENTS
Instructor Station
The role of instructors in simulator training cannot be overestimated.
The instructor station incorporated in Transas simulators provides the instructor with all the necessary tools for the efficient generation, editing, managing and assessing of training exercises.
Capabilities:
. Integrated application for creating, editing, explaining the trainee mission, exercise fulfilment and debriefing
. High accuracy data presentation on the basis of vector charts (able to automatically load all the charts referring to the selected gaming area)
. Multi-lingual user interface (English, Russian, Japanese)
. Creation of exercises and automatic competency assessment scenarios
. Control of simulator session(s)
. Continuous automatic recording of data in the course of the exercise (main, audio and video log files)
. Real, slow and fast time modes
. Able to display a marine track in the form of a succession of contours (Track
mode) and to set the track prediction mode (Trend mode) for all the
exercise objects (Global settings) and for one object (Local settings)
. Weather conditions manager
Transas Evaluation and Assessment System (TEAS)
Transas has designed a system that makes assessment automatic and easy. The Transas Evaluation and Assessment System (TEAS) allows objective assessment of an exercise fulfilled by a trainee on a navigational simulator. It is possible to compare individual exercise fulfilment scores with other exercise results. Results can be averaged with other runs or with the results of other trainees.
Visualization
The visualization system allows simulation of the environment such as water surface, rough sea, coastline, aids to navigation, moving surface and
airborne craft, coastal objects and structures. The system provides a realistic display of any weather conditions, various atmospheric phenomena, time of the day, visibility and illumination effects, reflection and glare on the water.
The visualization shows all the stages of mooring, towing and search and rescue operations, making the simulator an exclusively efficient means of training in specialist areas of seamanship.
Naval Applications
Transas navigational simulators have a number of naval applications, which allow training in the following operations:
. Fleet Formation Management
. Underway replenishment
. Lifeboat boat operations
. Deck helicopter operations
The fact that Transas simulators use the Navi-Sailor 3000 electronic chart system, the first one in the world to have been adapted to naval needs, is of particular importance.
Special operations simulators have found extensive applications both in
naval schools and at Coast Guard naval bases in many countries. SAR Operations
Transas simulators enable the full scope training in search and rescue operations as per the IAMSAR manual (edited jointly by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and International Maritime Organisation).
Modelled modern types of rescue boats, helicopters, facilities for the search and rescue at sea, combined with communications modelling, allow training in the use of these facilities and in the coordination of the search and rescue operations in the most adverse weather conditions. The synchronous recording and playback of the event, the use of equipment and exchange on the air are the most effective means for collective training in the rescue of human life at sea.
Vessel Traffic Management Training
VTS simulators are VTS operator workstations, from small local station to the ramified up-to-date VTS systems with several integrated local and regional stations for controlling radar, video, AIS surveillance systems, communication, recording, database maintenance and documenting systems. The simulator equipment and software allow all the main VTS functions to be imitated and provide the creation of areas with different navigational situations. The navigation bridge equipment enables the control of target ships and generation of various training scenarios and tasks.
VTS simulators fully correspond to the functional capabilities of actual
Transas VTS systems operating on scores of ports worldwide.
VTS simulators can function in a common information environment with Transas navigational and GMDSS simulators.
