Transas Navigational Simulators
Bridge Team Management Training
Weakness in bridge organisation and management has been cited as a major cause for marine casualties worldwide. Frequently, accidents in operations are caused by resource management errors. Bridge Team Management reduces the risk of marine casualties by helping a ship's bridge crew anticipate and correctly respond to their ship's changing situation. The marine simulator is designed to ensure this kind of training in compliance with international standards.
AIS and SSAS Training
Since the attacks in the USA in 2001, the approach to the issues of transport security worldwide has changed, including
that
to maritime transport. This has been acknowledged nationally
and internationally and has prompted both new development and the improvement of existing security regimes across the transport systems.
These requirements took the form of amendments to the Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 (SOLAS) and an International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code).
Navi-Trainer Professional provides the ability to conduct AIS and
SSAS training compliant with the ISPS Code and other international standards.
AIS Training
As per the requirements of the SOLAS Convention, all ships of 300 gross tonnage and upwards must be fitted out with AIS equipment.
Transas UAIS training ensures capability to:
• Set up parameters of own ships and targets for UAIS Position, Ship Static and Voyage Related Data reports
• Set up parameters of helicopter targets for UAIS Standard SAR Aircraft Position reports
• Set up parameters of VTMS station for UAIS Base
Station reports
• Send UAIS messages from targets to own ships and VTMS stations
• Monitor exchange of UAIS messages
• Enter malfunctions into a UAIS transponder
By the End of the Courses the Trainees Will Be Able to:
. Form bridge teams, making full use of all the competencies available and ensure that all members of the team are aware of their duties and responsibilities
. Draft detailed passage plans and monitor the vessel's progress to
maintain the plan
. Recognise the threat potential of a situation and make decisions which maintain the safety of the vessel
. Support and monitor a pilot
. Recognise the need to make contingency plans in areas of high
risk
. Recognise the development of an error chain, and effectively break such a chain
. Interpret and make efficient use of a ship's manoeuvring data

SSAS Training
According to the requirements of the SOLAS Convention, all ships of 500 gross tonnage and upwards must be fitted out with AIS equipment not later than 30 June 2006. Thus, SSAS training is intended for improving safety and efficiency of navigation in the
open sea and coastal waters through the automatic exchange of navigational, statistic and voyage information between the
ships and coastal stations.
SSAS Satamatics SAT-101 is imitated as part of the Navaids Task in the Navi-Trainer Professional 4000. Connection of the HW SSAS alert buttons is available as an option.
SSAS supports the following modes:
. Switching on
. Stand-by
. Alert mode
. Test mode
. Alert reset
. Switching off
