TEST 221/13115 lbs. TYPICAL 221/13140 lbs. PERFORMANCE S BASE PRICE S > We had two people aboard and a fulltank of fuel (about 21 gallons or 131pounds) for our test of the ProTeam 190TX. For power we had a 90 hp two-strokeMercury OptiMax 90 spinning a three-blade aluminum marine propeller.Even though 90 hp is considered mod-est in most cases, we were still expectingimpressive performance due to the craft’slightweight aluminum construction.Acceleration was decent with a time to
plane of 4.7 seconds and a 0-to-30 mphtime of 11 seconds. Things got more inter-esting as we pushed to wide-open throttle— after trimming out for marine top speed weposted 43.5 mph (at 5,500 rpm) on our
BOAT GPS, which is great considering our loadand modest power. We dialed it back tofind an efficient cruising speed of 25.4 mphat 3,500 rpm, which will yield a cruisingrange of about 114 miles (this might not
sound too impressive until you considerthe fact that the marine fuel tank only holds 21 gal-lons — 6.05 mpg is about as good as it gets).Conditions on the water were smoothand glassy, so we were greeted with an
equally smooth ride. The 90 hp motor
gave the boat a quick and lively perform-ance personality, and we can only imagine
how close to the edge you could push itwith even more power. The ProTeam 190TX utilizes what Tracker calls its PowerTrac Offset Transom, which sets theengine back 4 to 5 inches to allow the prop
boat cleaner water for a better bite.
