The HX500S is built to last with an impact resistant poly carbonate outer shell. It meets industry standards for water proofing of 3 feet for 30 minutes.Be heard! With 700mW of audio power you will have no problem hearing this radio even in the loudest conditions. Add additional audio with an external boat speaker mic or headset. Interface the HX600S with a BOAT GPS using the supplied interface cable and you can send GPS information to the VHF. When interfaced, it allows transmission of a DSC Distress call with position information. This multiband radio can also be used to monitor aircraft traffic. Or if you prefer, you can relax and listen to music on the FM band, or listen to the game on the AM bands. In addition to the NOAA Weather Alert, the HX600S is able to receive and display NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) SAME Messages. NOAA SAME broadcasts include warnings and post-event information for all types of hazards - including natural (such as earthquakes or avalanches), environmental (such as chemical releases or oil spills), and public safety (such as AMBER alerts or 911 telephone outages).

Transmitter

Be seen! This unique high intensity strobe light can be seen for miles. In an emergency,

RF Power Output (@7.4 V) 5, 2.5 or 1 WModulation Type Variable Reactance Maximum Deviation ± 5 kHzSpurious Emission At least 65 dB below Microphone Impedance 2 k-Ohm

the unique super bright LED distress strobe light blinks internationally recognized SOS to visually signal another vessel. This just might be that extra advantage you need if rescue from dark and stormy seas is necessary.
