Attention to detail An integral part of a custom spar is the customised fi ttings and components, which is why Southern Spars has a dedicated business operation, Precision Marine, that specialises in the production of custom components using titanium, cobalt, stainless steel, nitronic 50, and aluminium. Precision Marine’s vast experience in producing custom marine components, combined with its dedicated QA department and state-of-the-art CNC machines, produces some of the most innovative spar components in the world. Specialist components include • Titanium balls used in rotating mast bases for Open 60s• Aluminium goosenecks and tangs on TP52 booms• Peek chafe guards used on Volvo 70s • The Strop Lock, pins, sheaves, furling boom components, head stay locks, headboard cars, and locks.
