Solent Marine Ltd was founded in June 1991 by Victor Simmonds tomanufacture floating structures. From day one Solent Marine were manufacturing pontoons and cradles from a small but efficient production yard in Hamble on the UK South Coast. In the early daysthe majority of business came from local customers on the HambleRiver. Today Solent Marine addresses a wider UK and European market. The company acquired a new production facility in 2001 for its dedicated and hardworking team - it now has 75,000 square feet in which to manufacture and continues to thrive.

Victor Simmonds - Managing Director

A time served Yacht and Boat builder from the age of 16, Victor has enormousmarine industry experience having worked in Europe, Middle and Far East. Victor founded Solent Marine in June 1991 having recognised the demand for a specialist manufacturer of floating structures. He enjoys overseeing all the projects Solent Marine completes and takes a personal pride in the quality of the finished job.

Robert "Bill" Brock - Production Director

Robert joined Solent Marine in 1992 with a production engineering background. Robert became Production Director in 1994. Bill, as his colleagues know him enjoys overseeing the whole spectrum of Solent Marine's manufacturing processes.Bill designed and manufactured Solent Marine's first Fibre Concrete Floatation Unit.

Michael Simmonds - Operations Director

Michael (Son of Victor) has been with Solent Marine since 1993. Michael overseesSolent Marine'sfactories and production processes and ensures that these keybusiness units are run efficiently and to the company’s high standards.He alsoco-ordinates the installations throughout the UK and Ireland.

Marc Simmonds - Commercial Director

Since January 2003 Marc (Son of Victor) has been a vital part of our team, win-ning contracts, reducing costs and assisting in doubling our productivity.We look forward to Marc expanding our company and future prospects further.

Oliver Powell - Junior Design Engineer

Oliver joined Solent Marine in September 2003, he is on a 4 year apprenticeship with us and is learning very quickly every apsect of our business.

Steve Gibbons B.Eng(Hons) - Senior Design Engineer

Steve joined Solent Marine in January 1999 initially for a 6 week project. The Solent marine team were quick to recognise Steve's skills however and he never left the company. Steve is a qualified Naval Architect and his experience in designing large access bridges and landing stages has been a major factor in thesuccess of the company.
