3 NGW "DESIGN SGNSORS" PROVIDGS THG FULL PICTURG
Geometry sensors
The Geometry Sensor has been designed to vastly improve on the current symmetry measurement systems, which use a single sensor mounted on the head boat rope. The existing systems measures water flow at a small point on the trawl, meaning a few millimetres incorrect mounting of the sensor can cause large errors in the measurements. From the main Geometry sensor mounted on the middle of either the head or the foot rope, you measure the distance to two transponders mounted on each door or wing ends. This measurement will immediately tell you if the trawl is skewed due to water current, or incorrect warp lengths and will therefore easily detect large or small changes in the trawl geometry.

Depth of the doors are 64.4 and 69.3m and the distance between them are 53.8m.

Spread/Depth sensor
There is a great demand for sensors that combine several parameters and Simrad is pleased to have completed the combination of distance between the doors and the depth.

Seine Sounder
Measures the depth and the speed at which the gear sinks whilst the built in echosounder measures how far from the seabed the gear is.
Situation shows uneven geometry.
The net has sunken 68.9m and the ground gear is 18.7m above the bottom.
