| | | SeaWave® SSAS - Ship Security & Alert System About the Ship Security Alert Systems (SSAS) SSAS is a one-way, ship-to-shore security alert system. When a vessel is under threat, a hidden alert button is pressed, which causes an automated message to be sent over satellite to the competent authority designated by the vessel's flag state. This authority is then responsible for notifying other agencies who can best respond to the alert. | | | Because the Integrator 4 may be connected to multiple communications formats it provides unparalleled redundancy to ensure reliable SSAS message transmission. If there is an existing communications session in progress, SeaWave SSAS will take priority and immediately send the alert. If no session is in progress, SeaWave SSAS will, by default, send the alert over Iridium SBD. If Iridium SBD is unavailable or incapacitated, SeaWave SSAS will try another communications medium (e.g. Inmarsat).
