Side scan sonar CM800 This image shows 3 concrete blocks (2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 m), cross-shaped, visible both by the echo highlight (Black in this grayscale display) and the (white) shadow lying to the left and right of the blocks. Also visible is that the shadow of the boat block is a cross, the actual shape of the block. These blocks form a field of 700 blocks on the seabed and are there to protect the seabed from towing net fishing. This side scan sonar survey was carried out to confirm that all blocks where positioned in the correct pattern and position. The vertical lines of blocks are 100 meter separated from each other. The distance between each black vertical line on the plot equals 15 meters. Also the position of the tow fish is plotted on the image. Later during playback, the actual position of an object can be calculated by moving the cursor on top of it. Also dimensions as length, width and height can be measured.
