Portable Satellite Tracking Module ST2500 GENERAL OVERVIEW The ST-2500 data communicator is an intelligent wireless modem designed for the ORBCOMM system. This system enables businesses to track remote and mobile assets such as trailers, railcars and heavy equipment; monitor remote utility meters and oil and gas storage tanks, wells and pipelines; and stay in touch with remote workers around the world. The ST-2500's data and messaging features include position reports, data reports, user commands, and bi-directional messages. While compact and lightweight, Stellar data communicators are extremely rugged and operate in the toughest RF environments. Standard functionality includes continuous remote operation, data logging, exception-based reporting, messaging, tracking, sensor monitoring, position reporting, and power management. The ST-2500 has an all-in-one design including case, battery, boat charger, RS-232 port, analog and digital I/O. The ST-2500 and ST-2500G are identical with the exception that BOAT GPS capability is included in the ST-2500G. The ST-2500 connects to user equipment such as personal computers, sensors, alarms, and other equipment via the standard input/output cable optional the unit. The ST-2500 has a position determination capability that uses the Doppler frequency shift of a satellite's downlink signal to establish unit position. The ST-2500G uses a built-in GPS card to establish the unit position for applications requiring higher position accuracy. A 12-volt DC, 0.8 amp-hour, rechargeable, lead-acid battery, powers the ST-2500. This battery lasts approximately six hours in standby operation and up to three weeks in sleep mode. The built-in marine battery charger accepts 9-36 VDC and allows uninterrupted operation by use of an external power source such as an boat solar panel. HOEKEINDE 5 • 4254 LM SLEEUWIJK ?
