DGPS - positioning
DGPS – positioning The DGPS consists of a
MARINE GPS boat receiver and a differential receiver. With this configuration a position can be defined with an accuracy of 2-3 m, by receiving the the differential corrections of the differential land-stations. They are spread out over Western Europe, USA, parts of South America and some asian companies. Portable DGPS receiver Seascape
Diving builded a Portable DGPS receiver .The complete system is built in a watertight box and can be used on any type of vessel, from a
boat dinghy to an oil-tanker. It is completely self-powered, splash proof and installed and operational in only 5 minutes. The antennas for the GPS and the differential can be easily fixed on a boat's railing or another
marine antenna pole. The portable DGPS-case can be placed anywhere in the boat. The differential-antenna and the GPS-receiver are connected to the case. The GPS-receiver can be placed separated up to a distance of 10 m. from the case, for example on the
steering console or the
marine chart table. The
Marine gps antenna is directly connected to the GPS-receiver. The case has a rechargeable battery and a built in recharger. The system can operate for 24 hrs without recharging. The GPS-receiver gives all kinds of data which are used for navigation .This data can also be transmitted to a laptop. So
navigational software can be runned to keep track of your routes, to set out routes, to navigate on scanned in charts and all other navigational features. DGPS mobile reference station In area's were there are no differential land-stations, a DGPS mobile reference station is needed. DGPS reference station .Seascape Diving builded it's own reference station and kept it simple and compact. The unit is small, light and easely trasnported for use all over the world. The Differential GPS (DGPS) reference station provides pseudo-range differential GPS corrections that conform to the RTCM SC-104 Type 1 Version 2.1 message format. These are transmitted via a datalink to the remote
portable gps. The datalink is realised by using a
boat radio modem which is connected to a UHF/VHF transmitter. The remote portable GPS has the same radio modem and UHF/VHF receiver, this will receive the corrections and apply them to the GPS to calculate a DGPS solution. An accuracy of 3-5 m. can be achieved. >
