Priming, Filling and Undercoating Two coats of undercoat will give an even better finish.Stir thoroughlybefore use with a flat blade or stirring stick.Remove sanding dust with a brush and then a lint free tack rag. Bare surfaces must first be primed with our recommended priming scheme. Thiscan be different for different surfaces, so please consult our paint specifications for marine primer recommendations.Fillandfarebetweencoatswithanepoxyprofilingfillertomakegoodanyundulationsordamage.WerecommendusingSEAJETSPEEDFILLERfor smallpatchrepairs.Consultprofessionalsforlargerrepairs.Applythefillerwith aspatula, makingsurethespatulausedistwiceaswideastheholetobe filled.Thisreduceslowspots.Youcansandafteronly30minutes,using 280-320gradeabrasivesandpaper.Repeatifrequiredforaperfectlysmooth surface.YoucanovercoatSEAJETSPEEDFILLERwithanySEAJETprimer ortopcoat.Seajet topcoats can be applied directly to existing paint or fibre glass. First rubdown to remove any imperfections using 280 then 320 abrasive paper. However to obtain a uniform and consistent colour, an undercoat is recommended. This also acts to seal the filler and prevents moisture being absorbed. SEAJET UNIVERASAL PRIMER UNDERCOAT should be applied and then flattened back using 320 grade abrasive paper. TIPS: Applying the Finish Coat Whereas a typical conventional paint will last for 12 years before repainting, ourhigh performance topcoats will keep your boat looking like new for longer:For ease of application, our finishes are one component and can be applied toany prepared surface. For best results, apply using a short haired roller and lay off with a long haired, high quality, soft bristled brush. Use a criss-cross pattern and always finish the last stroke in the same direction.Flatten back between coats using 320400 abrasive paper. Two or preferablythree coats will give a long lasting finish. TIPS: Make sure you pick a dry day.Preferably paint in the morning to avoidevening condensation settling on the surface. You can dampen the ground underneath the boat to avoid dust rising. 36
