Regulators

The Aqua LungRange Work of Breathing Cold Water Features Nitroxcompatibility (Enriched Air Nitrox EAN)

The Aqua Lung regulator line is divided intoseveral different models based upon the designof first stage.• The Legend series – The Legend series is ourhigh end range which boosts the most features and benefits. The Legend 1st stage is aDiaphragm design which utilizes a proprietary overbalanced first stage to achieveunprecedented performance for the most demanding divers. The Legend 1st stage is available with either the adjustable ornonadjustable second stage. The Legend series has ACD system (Auto Closure Device).• The Kronos series - The new Aqua LungKRONOS is the first regulator to offer divers acombined adjuster for the injection and the opening resistance along with a lateral bubbledeflector. This regulator with its distinctive look isalready attracting a lot of attention. See detailedpresentation on page 8 and 9.• The Titan series – The Titan 1st stage is themost popular and is the workhorse of the fleet.Coupled with the LX second stage the Titan LXperformance rivals our highest end regulatorswhile maintaining a very attractive price. The Titan is an in-line balanced diaphragm mechanismthat is very compact and easy to use.• Calypso series – The Calypso first stage is ournew simple piston regulator, it is built up from the famous Calypso series. The new componentsare compatible with the previous Calypso series. The new internal shapes allowed us some very high breathing performances. It is possibleto use it in cold water diving (CE approval). • Extreme Series – The Extreme series regulatorare regulators specially designed for extremeconditions. These regulators are extremely resistant to freezing conditions. They have been tested over the EN 25O standard conditions asunder ice diving. All Aqua Lung regulators are objectively tested andtheir gas delivery performance is evaluated usingan ANSTI breathing boat simulator machine. Thissimulator quantifies inhalation and exhalation effortwhile subjecting the regulator to variations indepth, supply pressure and water temperatures. The results of these tests, which study exhalationand inhalation effort, are computer analyzed to produce an overall “work of breathing”(WOB)rating. The WOB results are typically plotted as “WOB Curves” as seen below. All Aqua Lung regulators meet or exceed therigorous standards required of regulators sold internationally and particularly in Europeancountries. The rigorous European standard (“CE”) requires that the WOB does not exceed 3 joules/liter at 165 feet. All Aqua Lung regulators have received the CE approval rating.Throughoutthese pages, you will see examples of breathingcurves exhibiting the overall WOB for the variousmodels. When you purchase an Aqua Lungregulator, you are buying it with confidence because of the comprehensive test program towhich these regulator designs are subjected. Found on “Supreme” Models (Fig. 1) Cold water diving requires special training and also requires specializedequipment designed to resist “Freeze-Up”.Most Aqua Lung regulators are available in a “Supreme” version that isadjusted and designed to perform specifically under cold waterconditions. These adaptations include : In EEC countries, the Nitrox/O2diving is ruled by the EN 144-3standard – Respiratory protectivedevices – Gas cylinder valve - Part 3:Outlet Nitrox connections and EN13949 standard – Respiratory equipment – Open-circuit selfcontained diving apparatus for use with compressed nitrox and oxygen –Requirements, testing, marking. The maximum depth depends on the percentage of oxygen used in themixture.• Aqua Lung offers a separate line ofregulators which are designed and manufactured specifically fordedicated use with enriched air above 40% and up to 100% ofoxygen. This range meets therequirements of the EN 144-3 andthe EN 13949 and has successfullypassed the adiabatic compression tests. It has consequently beenawarded the CE type certificate.• These regulators with specificconnections should be used onlywith suitable complementaryequipment (cylinder valves, cylinders, pressure gauges, etc) designed and prepared for use with oxygenenriched gas or oxygen. • Nitrox/O2 regulator is built to ahigh standard of cleanliness using EAN/oxygen compatible components and lubricants.• The breathing air used for the mixture should be oxygen-compatibleor “hyperfiltered” whereas the condensed hydrocarbons do not exceed 0.1 mg/m Environmental Dry Seal (Fig. 2) that keeps water away from the exposed main spring on the first stage thereby reducing the likelihood of freezing on cold water dives. Thisfeature, which comes standard on cold water models, may be added to other models for divers in harsh environments that have the need tokeep silt or pollution out of the main spring chamber. Heat Exchangers (Fig. 3) on the second stage help the regulator to resist freezing while diving in colder waters. The heat exchanger conducts the temperature of the surrounding water to the valve inside the regulator, virtually eliminatingsecond stage freezing. Comfo-Bite® Mouthpiece with Lip Shield (Fig. 4) The patented Comfo-Bite mouthpiece with the addition of a lip shield helps protect the diver’s lips from extreme cold.

Breathing curve Overall Work Of Breathing:0.79 J/litre Maximum Limit:3.0 J/litreDepth:165 ft (50 m) Ventilation Rate:62.5 lpm Inlet Pressure: 725 psi (50 bar) Glacia This regulator includes 3 levels of heatexchangers: the first stage, the hose andthe second stage. These patended systems aid cold extraction and increased the freezing resistance. Mistral
Exhale Inhale It is the only 2 stages regulator with a total protection. Themechanisms are protected from the environment. The moving partsare not in contact with the water.
