__ pg Introduction History A WEALTH OFEXPERIENCE The story of Rondal began in 1975 when a two-man department of the Royal Huisman yard was turned into a newindependent company. This was a bold move for the time, a recognition of the potential of designing and building masts anddeck equipment for other companies apart from the 'mother' yard. The chosen brand name for the products was 'RONDAL', anabbreviation of the original location (Ronduite) and the mast material used (aluminium). After initially concentrating on the Dutch market, Rondal products were soon in demand from international yards. Masts were built using extruded aluminium sections: Few yachts measured more than 16 metres at this time and those which didwere considered large indeed. Rondal rode the wave of changeas yachts grew in length. A boom in business was triggered when Connie van Rietschoten ordered a customised mast for the 1978 Whitbread Round the World Race winner ‘Flyer’. By thetime ‘Flyer 2’ won the 1982 Whitbread, the Rondal name wasassociated with premium quality and maximum reliability.Although various opportunities to diversify came to the fore,a key decision was taken at this time to stick to the core businessof mast and rigging solutions. A strategy of only introducing new products into the market when the design is perfect has helped maintain the Rondal brand image ever since. THE ART OF RONDAL The way a yacht looks is almost as important as her function. This after all is your floating home, a retreat where you receiveguests in a wholly different environment than that found onshore. Nonetheless, as your seaborne house also needs to sail, you mayface compromising beauty in favour of function. By making functional aspects beautiful, Rondal endeavours to reduce these compromises to the absolute minimum. And the result is often anaesthetic enhancement in its own right - the Art of Rondal. Based at the heart of the Dutch yachting industry, Rondal is a leading manufacturer of marine equipment for superyachts.Products range from aluminium or carbon fibre masts and (rollaway) booms to flush hinged and sliding deck hatches; from hydraulic deck and reel winches to blocks and sheeting systems;from hydraulic furling systems to electric or pneumatic slidingdoors. Rondal has recently set out its stall in the motoryacht market with a smart selection of hatches and sliding doors. The Rondal products are divided in four main product groups:Spars & Rigging, Winches, Hatches and Deck Equipment. Havingserved the yachting industry for over 30 years, Rondal has anunrivalled reputation for reliability and quality, backed up by first class standards of customer support. Its client base speaks volumes for the success of this approach: Vitters Shipyard, Fr. Lürssen Werft, C.N.B., Baltic Yachts, Holland Jachtbouw, Abeking & Rasmussen, Nautor, Derecktor Shipyard, Barcos Deportivos and Royal Huisman Shipyard are just some of theworld's leading yards that trust Rondal to supply the excellence they demand. 2 3
