MULTI-FUNCTION BUOY TENDERS For Northern Lighthouse Board & Trinity House Lighthouse Service In November 2004, as the result of wining European open tender, Remontowa S.A. has signed the contracts with Northern Lighthouse Board and Trinity House Lighthouse Service, both owners from United Kingdom, for design and building of two high specialized vessels. Two near sister vessels are designed and constructed generally for service as Multi Function Tenders operated respectively round the coasts of Scotland and the Isle of Man by the Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) and the coasts of England, Wales and the Channel Islands by Trinity House Lighthouse Service (THLS). The primary functions of both vessels is to lay, retrieve and maintain navigation buoys together with their associated moorings. The vessels in addition is designed with the capability to carry out other offshore multi-function roles, including towing, hydrographical surveys, attendance at wrecks, transportation of personnel and equipment to offshore stations and lighthouses, support safe workboat and helicopter operations. The aft working deck and associated buoy/chain handling and lifting machinery and cranes, together with the stability and sea-keeping of the vessels, is optimised to provide a safe working platform and a safe operation for lifting and deploying. Aids to Navigation utilising the minimum of crew in prevailing conditions up to and including BF6 with significant wave height of 2,0 m. Vessels to operate throughout all seasons in the North Sea, English Channel, Western Approaches, Irish Sea and the North Atlantic and make passage at the defined speed in BF6 significant wave height of 3,0 m from ahead. Vessels to be built of steel, with the hull sub-divided by watertight bulkheads and fitted with wing tanks and double bottom structure extending throughout the length of the vessel. Double bottom and deep tanks to be arranged for the carriage of oil fuel, fresh water and water ballast. All storage tanks for fuel oil and lubricating oil to be kept clear of hull side shell plating and double bottom tanks. Vessels to be capable of slow speed close quarters manoeuvrability for accurate station keeping up to and including Beaufort Force 6.
