OceanLED USA LLC opened its doors on January 2nd 2007 to an overwhelming response from customers, dealers, and boat build- ers. Located at the Lauderdale Ma- rine Center in the heart of South Florida, our onsite showroom has working displays of all our prod- ucts. The company is poised to offer unrivalled customer support, next day delivery and onsite consul- tations. With an ever increasing network of authorized dealers, US waters are soon be lit by OceanLED coast to coast.

AN INTERVIEW WITH NIGEL,

Founder and Managing Director

“I met my wife in the 70’s when she was in a dance troupe called the ‘Young Generation’. I used to watch her shows in awe, of course because of her, but also for the overall visual effects. For each dance number the costumes were coloured to match the lights and I have always referred to the shows as ‘a visual orgasm!’ Ever since then I’ve been fascinated by light and of course my wife!“I have created a few lighting companies over the past 30 years, where my primary aim was quality and exquisite design, but the problem with most lights is heat, bulb failure and colour control.“I was first introduced to Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) around 10 years ago, but it wasn’t until recent-ly with the introduction of High Powered LEDs that I was able to seriously consider the possibility of using them for major lighting applications. “LED lighting is not like traditional lighting with bulbs. An LED is an electronic component and therefore needs to be treated as such, and this is where many lighting companies are failing at pres- ent. It is the symbiosis of lighting design and electronics. My R&D Director, Chris, has been instru- mental in taking the designs so much further to where they are today.“I’m very excited by the prospect of the next 12 months. We have LED lights on test now that are total ‘world firsts’ and I’m itching to get them on to the market. “As someone once said, regarding our lights - ‘it’s like looking at the sun - only brighter!’ Get ready to be amazed.”
Interview conducted with Nigel at his home on June 30, 2006 OceanLED UK was founded in December 2004 by Nigel and Lee Savage to research and develop all types of LED lighting for the Marine, Military and Architectural markets. The company has a highly skilled team pushing the technological boundaries of LED lighting and the electronics to run them, with all products being designed and produced in-house.
