GENERALDESCRIPTION: The11.3metreX-38isarevolutionarystepped-hullhighspeeddesignwhichcanalsobeconfiguredfor sheerpleasure,commercial,patrolormilitaryuse.Itoffers superior sea-keeping,efficiency, speedandsafetyinalloperatingconditionsandiswellsuitedforoffshorefishing,divingandopenwatercrossings,withpredicted speedsof45+knotswithtwin250hpoutboards.Thiscutting-edgeSwedishdesignfromMarineDynamicsistheresultofmanyyearsofongoingresearchandhasaradicallongitudinalsinglestepthatreduceshullresistancewhenplanning.Theboatactuallyrideson4planningsurfaceswhichreduceinsizeastheboats’speedincreasesandtheboatriseshigheroutofthewater.Thisresultsinaboatthathasastable,levelride,andanincreasedefficiencyof20-25%overaconventionalhullform,beitcatamaranormono-hull.TheboatwillbeavailableasanOpenSportsmodel,aSportSedanmodel,orwithaCabinandFly-bridge.TheSportsmodelwillhavefullwalk-arounddecksandalargereardeckespeciallysuitedtofishing,divingandwatersports,itcanalsobeequippedwithcool-boxesandcookingfacilities.Abovethiswillbethesteeringstationwithaspaciousseating/relaxationarea.A softorhardtoproofcanbefittedoverthisareaforweatherprotection.Bothmodelscanhave2privatedoublecabinsforwardandalargesunbathingareaonthedeckabove.TheFly-bridgemodelwillhaveanenclosed salooncabinforrelaxingandentertainingthatcanbeair-conditioned.Tomaximisespaceinthesaloonandsimplifysystemsthesteeringstationwillbemounteduponthefly-bridge.Withlargesettees,suchastablerideandanelevatedpositionthefly-bridgewillbetheplaceofchoice.Itcanalso serveasarestareaforthecrewifprivacyisrequired. CONSTRUCTION: IsHand-laidcompositeGRP,withcoredsandwichpanels.Thehullismadeofmulti-directionalfibreglasslayers,withadditionalcarbonstringerstrengthening.Thebalsaandclosed-cellhighdensityfoamcoresincreasepanelstiffnessandreducetheweightusuallyassociatedwithsolidGRPboats.Thisoffersgreatstrengthandrobustnessandmaximiseshullintegrityintheeventofacollision.Theboatis self-drainingasthecockpitdeckisabovethewaterline. ENGINESANDPROPULSION: Forsimplicityofmaintenanceandoperationtheboatispoweredbyoutboardmotors,usingtwomotorsandcounter-rotatingpropellers(otherengineconfigurationsarealsoavailable).StainlesssteelpropellersarehighlyrecommendedforhigherperformanceandcomeasstandardwiththelargersizeSuzukiengines.CurrentplanningistousethefuelefficientDF250hp.fourstrokeengines.Suzukiarereleasinganew300Hpmodel shortly. STEERINGANDENGINESCONTROLS: The steeringsystemishydraulicallyoperated,andontheSportsmodelthelowersteeringstationwillbecentrallylocatedbehindalargewrap-aroundwindscreen.Thegearshiftandthrottlecontrolsaregenuinepartsmatchingthebrandofengineselected.AFly-by-wiresteeringsystemwillaccompanytheSuzuki300hpfourstrokeoutboardengines.Allinstrumentsandcontrolsareclearlyvisibleandaccessible.
