Thus, the Nordhavn 86 was conceived, and in 2006, she will take over as the new flagship of the Nordhavn line. At 86 feet, this new Nordhavn represents PAE.'s firm entry into the megayacht market. She is more than impressive at first sight, and her full-load displacement of over 325,000 lbs. allows for comparisons to vessels well over 100 feet. Building on the experience of hundreds of thousands of ocean crossing miles and applying the "form follows function" rule, this ultimate offshore passagemaker has been designed in an aft wheelhouse configuration. For comfort and visibility at sea, this arrangement cannot be beat. Taking advantage of the enormous volume of this hull, the new Nordhavn 86 offers accommodations that are nothing short of remarkable. Finished with the finest materials, the interior is at once luxurious and functional. Construction of the new 86 is conventional fiberglass, built to extremely heavy scantlings using beautifully constructed female molds for the entire hull and deck. A seamless structure, highly detailed gelcoated finish and Awlgriptm paint job ensures a yacht finish to the highest possible standard. Designed and built to the latest international standards, each new Nordhavn 86 will be fully ABS certified. An extensive list of standard machinery details means there's little to add to the Nordhavn 86 except electronics and tenders.
