VECTRIX ASYMMETRIC CRUISING SPINNAKERS

CRUISING ASYMMETRICS
ur asymmetric cruising spinnaker, is a light weight nylon downwind sail for the cruising yachtsman. It can be used from 55 to 150 degrees apparent wind angle and is in its element for light to medium wind strengths from 3 to 15 knots.
This sail is designed to be as easy to use as possible. It is approximately 10% smaller than a regular full dimension spinnaker; the foot length is 6% shorter. The area in the "shoulders" is also reduced for easy trimming. By using advanced radial construction techniques and state-of-the-art asymmetrical spinnaker designs, the cruising yachtsman can now enjoy exhilarating downwind performance previously reserved for fully crewed racing yachts. The Cruising Spinnaker offers ease of use, improved performance and durability.
Planform
The planform allows changes in wind angles to be easily accommodated by adjustment of the tack downhaul. The Cruising Spinnaker is cut with a high clew which enables the sail to be trimmed for varying wind angles by adjusting the sheet in exactly the same way as with a Genoa. When close reaching, the tack should be lowered by tensioning the downhaul to flatten the sail. The downhaul is progressively eased as the wind comes aft.
A 1.5 oz Spanker fetches across San Francisco Bay generating controlled power. The sail is in perfect trim.
Panel Configuration
Cruising Spinnakers can be made in tri-radial or true-radial configurations. The tri-radial design is optimal for
comfortably downwind with minimal crew and without the complications and expense of rigging full spinnaker gear.
light displacement boats under 30 feet. Otherwise, we recommend the true-radial configuration.
Dousing Sock
The Cruising Spinnaker can be delivered with its own dousing sock. With only one crew member on board, hoisting and dousing becomes a simple exercise. With the sail contained safely inside the sock, spinnaker packing is unnecessary.
Easy Handling
The Cruising Spinnaker is the ideal sail for the cruising yachtsman who wants to sail
