Highly innovative technology supporting environmentally-friendly operation of the ship is used in the Mein Schiff class of ships. Not only will each ship consume around 30 percent less energy compared to cruise ships of similar sizes but by using a combined exhaust gas treatment system to reduce emissions, it will also fully exploit what is currently technically feasible.

LNG LNG as a fuel is revolutionary in many ways - the small environmental footprint perhaps being the most outstanding achievement. The Baltic Sea SECA (Sulphur Emission Control Area) requirements formed the minimum target level for the concept design. State of the art technology Ships are being designed using 3D CAD with the steel hull, components and piping included in the model. This is a major step forward in the design process and it helps the shipyard to find numerous improvements in productivity by modularization and other efficiencyenhancing construction methods. In addition, 3D tools are being used for the design of public areas and cabins.

Record-BREAKING building periods Due to the very short building periods, new innovative and efficient building concepts, with high block outfitting ratio and modularization, are being successfully utilized. The engine room and HVAC modules are to a high extent built as prefabricated blocks and lifted onboard as completed modules. Several deck modules are combined to form a large block which is extensively pre-outfitted in the block outfitting hall.
